This month, I really wanted to capture that feeling of moving forward, of pure, unadulterated excitement for what’s coming next.

When I sat down at my studio desk to paint this month’s featured animal, I kept thinking about the concept of momentum. Sometimes we get so caught up in the "hustle" that we forget that movement can just be… fun. Have you ever seen an elephant truly run? It’s not just a walk; it’s a rhythmic, powerful, and surprisingly graceful display of energy.
I chose a vibrant blue palette for this piece because I wanted it to feel whimsical and refreshing. This isn't your average grey elephant. This is a creature of imagination and happiness.
A Closer Look at the Art 🎨
Every single piece in the Monthly Animal Print Club is an original watercolor that I have personally painted. I don’t use AI to generate my animals, and I don't use stock illustrations. When you hold this print in your hands, you are holding a piece of my heart and my artistic process.
For this specific blue elephant, I focused heavily on the details that bring him to life:
- The Trunk: I used layered, fine-tipped brush strokes to give the trunk a sense of texture and flexibility. You can almost see it trumpeting in excitement as he runs!
- The Ears: Elephants have such expressive ears. In this "Joy in Motion" theme, I painted them flared out slightly to catch the wind of his movement.
- The Eyes: There is a twinkle in those eyes. I wanted him to look like he’s having the absolute best day ever.
- The Movement: Notice the playful position of the legs. He isn't just standing there posing; he is mid-stride, pushing forward with a sense of purpose and delight.
